Hand-colored cartoon depicting the Ostend whale skeleton (the Ostend whale was found dead off Ostend coast in 1827 and its skeleton displayed all across Europe in the 19th c.), fitted out with steps and carriage wheels, with a host of frogs and fishes in fancy dress around and upon it. A sign atop the whale reads "De La Place Louis XV Aux Chaps Elysees". The picture is titled "Les Métamorphoses du Jour." at top, and numbered No. 71. Below, it is labeled "Omnibus Royal des Pays-Bas." This translates to "The Transformations of the Day. Royal Conveyance of the Netherlands."
