On the left border is a block with the phrase "one dollar" printed repeatedly across it. Text on the bill reads, "STATE OF CONNETICUT. No. [numbers handwritten] 3114" "THE WHALING BANK, Will pay ONE DOLLAR to the Bearer on Demand. NEW LONDON [handwritten date] February 1 [printed] 18 [handwritten] 64" "[signature] Cashr.
