A party of men on a rowboat attemp to lance a large spouting whale. One lance is already in the whale's back and one of the men is preparing to throw another. There is a bloody wound above the whale's eye. In the background are visible the backs of three more whales, and a large ship. The foreground has been hand-colored. Under the image is, in Gothic typeface, the word "Wallfischfang."
