Nomenclature: whaling scenes
Monochrome image of men in rowboats harpooning a whale, which is depicted with tail and fin elevated in mid-thrash. White foam surrounds the whale, which already has several lances in it. Several large ships and two icebergs are visible in the background. Other than the foam and one of the icebergs, the scene is cast in deep shadow. Under the image is the engraver attribution, the date, the title, and "Druck v. A. Schuler in Stuttgart".
