Colored illustration of a whale, tied down to a large wheeled cart, being pulled by horses down a large throughfare sourrounded by crowds. Many tall (five or more storey) buildings with low-peaked roofs and elaborate balconies line the streets. The masts of some ships are visible in the distance. Underneath the image is the text, " CARRIAGE THROUGH THE STREETS OF MARSEILLES OF A WHALE CAPTURED IN THE WATERS OF THE CHATEAU D'IF." In the bottom left of the image is the artist's name, "SMEETON".
