Colored woodcut of a bearded man in a sailor's hat, a blue jacket, and pinstripe pants standing on a masthead. He is looking to the right, and his left hand is extended in that direction, as if he is pointing towards something he has sighted. Atop the masthead flies a flag, which resembles the French Tricolore except for the fact that the red stripe, not the blue, is closest to the flagstaff.
