Black and white image of a bay. The shoreline is on the right hand side of the image, and has coniferous trees as well as mountains. By the trees, a man holding a barrel runs away from a cohort of men with arrows and bows. Other men with axes appear to be cutting down the trees. Next to them is a rocky outcropping that forms an arch over an area of the water. Closer to the foreground are men engaged in preparing fish and men pulling in a fishing net. In the near foreground, behind some sand dunes, two men wearing caps and elaborate ruffs hold a lobster, and another lobster and a crab are depicted beside them. In the bay is a large whale which is being harpooned by men in a rowboat. There is another rowboat with men holding lances closer to the shore. In the background are two large three-masted ships. Below the frame, to the right, is the number "661" or "b b 1".
