Monochrome clipping from The Saturday Magazine, with a woodcut entitled "Whale Tossing a Boat" to accompany the last installment of a story entitled "Journal of the Voyage of a Whale Ship". From 14 May 1836. Woodcut shows a whale, half submerged, with a boat upside down in the air above it, oars flying in different directions, and no sign of the sailors. In the background are two other whale boats and a large three-masted ship.
