[Gunfighter]
Named collection: Holography Collection
Object type: hologram
Maker: Multiplex Moving Holograms
Date made: date unknown
Materials: 360° integral stereogram (Multiplex); film
Measurements: 10 in x 51 in
Nomenclature: fine art/commercial
Classification: holograms
Three sheets of film adhered together to form one continuous image (each sheet is a 120° hologram); film is wrapped around in a drum-size so that the beginning and ends of the film meet; film appears to be permanently adhered to 2 round metal bands at the top and bottom of the form; the form is placed in a special rotating structure. As structure rotates, viewer sees 3 different rainbow-colored scenes involving a gunfighter Leonard Gesensway, wearing a cowboy hat and Old West clothing; in first scene, he first appears in profile with his right hand on his pistol which is in his holster; at structure rotates, he turns toward viewer and aims the gun at viewer while raising his left hand to top of gun; in second scene, he first appears in profile and then turns toward viewer while grimacing and moving his arms as though he has been shot; in third scene, he raises his gun to his mouth and blows into its barrel; when third scene is finished, first scene begins again.
This hologram was made by Multiplex for Leonard Gesensway to be used in an arcade game machine designed by Gesensway called "The Gunfighter." Please note that due to the unique challenges of holography as a medium, high-resolution digital images are not available for most items in the holography collection. Please contact us for more information on reproducing images of holograms.
