Hologram in silver frame set within a large piece of green-painted wood; frame is set within the wood in such a way that it can be spun around so that both sides of the hologram can be viewed; front of plate shows the front of a small copy of Canova's sculpture "The Three Graces," a statue of 3 standing, embracing women; back of plate shows the back of the statue; red image; printed on the wood above the hologram is `"The Three Graces," an early transmission hologram showing the further development of holography as a versatile and unique recording medium, by Matt Lehmann at the Stanford Research Institute, 1963. Two images have been recorded on this hologram: the front of the statue on one side, the back on the other. Rotate the plate 180° to see both. Gift of Matt Lahmann and SRI International."
