Holographic scanning disk [disc] used in the IBM 3687 supermarket scanner; disk consists of a very thin layer of dichromated gelatin sandwiched between 2 glass disks; each of the 21 factets of the disk has a unique combination of deflective angle and focal length which allows for the generation of a fairly complex scan pattern [from letter in Museum of Holography accession file for this object]; disk comes with its own black wooden case; disk rests on a black mount in the middle of case; label at bottom of case reads `Dichromated Gelatin Holographic Scanning Disk Used in the IBM 3687 Supermarket Scanner.'

Please note that due to the unique challenges of holography as a medium, high-resolution digital images are not available for most items in the holography collection. Please contact us for more information on reproducing images of holograms.
