Brain and Skull
Named collection: Holography Collection
Object type: hologram
Maker: Polaroid Corporation
Date made: 1991
Materials: reflection hologram; film (photopolymer)
Measurements: 10 1/2 in x 15 1/2 in
Plastic sheet to which is adhered 11 identical photopolymer holograms, in 4 horizontal rows of 3 holograms each, except for the bottom row, in which the right hologram has been cut off. Each hologram shows a greenish-gold image of a human skull in profile, with one of 2 images set within the skull, depending on the angle of light: either the human brain, or the muscle groups of the skull and face.
Used on the cover of the 3rd issue "Holography Marketplace" in July of 1991. Please note that due to the unique challenges of holography as a medium, high-resolution digital images are not available for most items in the holography collection. Please contact us for more information on reproducing images of holograms.
