Haley's Comet

Major collection: Holography
Named collection: Holography Collection
Object type: hologram
Maker: Burns, Jody
Date made: 1986
Materials: white light transmission; glass
Measurements: 8 in x 10 in
Classification: holograms

Realistic, sharp rainbow-colored image of a telescope, the eyepiece extending out beyond the image plane; ideally, by looking through the eyepiece, one can see a red image of Haley's Comet; however, the comet appears from many different angles, without the illusion of seeing it solely through the eyepiece; works only if hologram and viewer are in perfect position.

Please note that due to the unique challenges of holography as a medium, high-resolution digital images are not available for most items in the holography collection. Please contact us for more information on reproducing images of holograms.
