A tinted lithograph of the HM Steam Yacht, the 'Victoria and Albert,' entering Plymouth Sound on 10 August 1843. Built for Queen Victoria, the 'Victoria and Albert' was the first royal steam yacht. As the yacht passes, vessels in the background give a ships salute, are decorated with maritime signal flags, and sailors man the yards to pay respect to the Royal family onboard. Men and women in small rowboats wave their hats to welcome the royal yacht.
