Captn B.L. Waite, inward-bound off Point Lynas - making signal for a Pilot. uncolored lithography of the port view of the New York Packet Ship England. Packet ships were vessels that carried mail, cargo, and people. Hundreds of people immigrated to America by packet ships in the 1800s. The England was added to the Black Ball Line after it passed into the hands of Captain Charles H. Marshall in 1836.
