Monochrome engraving featuring text about the 1745 marriage of the Dauphin, in an embellished border and with a drawing of the commemorative coin above and a motif of two hands joining, below. The latter motif also includes two spouting whales or dolphins. The coin has the text "NOVUM DOMUS AUGUSTAE VINCULUM|MAR.THERES.HISPAN.REGIS FIL.LUDOV.DELPHINO NUPTA. M.DCC.XLV." and bears the image of two women, symbolizing France and Spain, place their shields together in front of Hymen, who crowns them. The text reads, "1745. MARIAGE DE MONSEIGNEUR LE DAUPHIN. L'HIMEN Avec ses attributs, placé sous un berceau de Myrthe, et qui en met une Coronne sur l'Ecusson des Armoires de France et d'Espagne que ces deux Nations luy presentent. La Légende, NOVUM DOMUS AUGUSTÆ VINCULUM, Et l'Exergue, MAR. THERES. HISPAN. REGIS FIL. LUDOV. DELPHINO NUPTA, signifent, que le Mariage de Loüis Dauphin de France avec Marie Therese, Infante d'Espagne, ressere les n¿uds qui unissoient déja les deux branches de la Maison Royale de Bourbon. Plus bas est la datte de ce Mariage fait en 1745."
Translation to English: "1745. MARRIAGE OF THE LORD DAUPHIN. HYMEN [goddess of marriage], with her trappings, placed under a bower of Myrtle, and who places a Crown atop the Shields with the Coats of Arms of France and of Spain, which the two Nations are presenting to her. The caption, "NOVUM DOMUS AUGUSTÆ VINCULUM", and the inscription, "MAR. THERES. HISPAN. REGIS FIL. LUDOV. DELPHINO NUPTA", mean that the Marriage of Louis, Crown Prince of France, with Marie Therese, Princess of Spain, retightens the knots which unify, once more, the two branches of the Royal House of Bourbon. Below is the date of this wedding, which happened in 1745."
