Monochrome engraving of a star chart for the Northern Hemisphere. Arrows and inscriptions in pencil point out Cetus, the Whale, and Andromeda. The chart points out the path of the Great Comet, whose official designation is C/1743 X1, a spectacular comet that was observed during 1743 and 1744. The point where the comet's path exits the area of the chart is marked with a date: "28 Feb. 1744"
