Hand-colored engraving of a stormy sea with cliffs to the left. On board a small ship, Jonah is being cast overboard. Some ways off to the right, the whale waits with mouth agape. In the background, lightning strikes a dwelling upon the cliffs. On a mountain to the right of that cliff is another dwelling, with a tower. On a lower cliff in the right-hand foreground, five men sit or stand outside a cave, looking on at the scene. Title printed in lower margin, center. Printed at left side of top margin is the text "Plate 87 No. XLV".
