A plan of a British East Indiaman on the lower right side with a plan of the spar and sail draft on the left side. Above the plan of the ship are smaller illustrations of the main rigs; parts for rigging; a starboard-side view of an East Indiaman; and a diagram that illustrates the position of the sails corresponding to the direction the ship will travel when the wind blows from the north to the south, as indicated by the arrow at the top of the radial compass. The engraving is most likely a foldout illustration from a book. The remnants of acid migration, or the faint designs overlapping the darker illustrations, match up when the print is folded along the horizontal crease. The plans are indexed and at the top left corner is the text, "10 face sails."
