Portrait of the schooner yacht Mohawk, built 1875 by Joseph Van Dusen, Williamsburgh L.T. Tear at bottom partially obscuring a seal of the New York Yacht Club. Specs for the vessel given at bottom right. Vessel capsized in NY Harbor with loss of life of owner and wife. This event brought attention to the danger of beamy shallow draft yachts that had been evolving up to this period.
