This black-and-white film titled "Photo Instrumentation Under the Sea" presents a 1959 interview of Harold Edgerton about underwater photography, conducted by the Boston University student chapter of SMPTE [Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers]. Edgerton explains the mechanics of the cameras, flashes and sonar instruments at the MIT Pool. He then discusses the challenges and discoveries made on particular deep-sea expeditions, and comments on film clips and photographs of collaborative expeditions with Jacques-Yves Cousteau and the National Geographic Society.
