Face

Major collection: Holography
Named collection: Holography Collection
Object type: hologram
Maker: Balogh, Tibor; Nemeth, Geza
Date made: 1983
Materials: reflection hologram; glass
Measurements: 5 in x 4 in
Nomenclature: fine art
Classification: holograms

Picasso-esque face with only the outlines of nose, lips and eyes, written with orange-colored lines; an `x' written with the same orange color runs through the middle of the face, helping give the image a sharp 3-D quality; artist's name and the date are written along the side of the hologram; when holding the image with the artist's name facing up, the face seems to recede into the glass; when held upside down, the face jumps out at the viewer.

Please note that due to the unique challenges of holography as a medium, high-resolution digital images are not available for most items in the holography collection. Please contact us for more information on reproducing images of holograms.
