Kenneth Germeshausen's gift of one of the modern era's most important slide rules proved the catalyst for the start of the museum's slide rule collection. Several hundred alumni made generous donations over the years forming the core of our collection of computational instruments prior to the acquisition of the Keuffel & Esser Company Collection in 2004 [label text from The Most Important Instrument: Slide Rules and the Making of the Modern World]
