Three apples in different configurations etched into glass plate; when lit as in-line, form 2 sets of flat images, one in the foreground and the other more in background; made to imitate Dr. Dennis Gabor's first experiments with mercury arc-lit transparencies; hologram is on a glass plate which is adhered to a slightly larger glass plate; the bottom inch of the larger plate overlaps the holographic plate, creating a lip that was used to place the hologram in a pedestal; 2 holes in the lip allowed the glass plate to be better secured in the pedestal.
Please note that due to the unique challenges of holography as a medium, high-resolution digital images are not available for most items in the holography collection. Please contact us for more information on reproducing images of holograms.
