Unnamed Vessel - Vessel Type Yankee one design class (proposed)

Vessel Name: Unnamed Vessel - Vessel Type Yankee one design class (proposed)
sloop
Yankee one-design
Owen, George
Proposal for a Yankee One Design, presumably for the well-publicised design competition held in 1937. The winning entry for this contest was eventually attributed to W. Starling Burgess (although it remained anonymous at the time). George Owen was a vocal critic of the competition, believing that it was a sham and that the committee had already previously selected Burgess' work (he was likely correct). Issues also arose when the committe claimed that they were using MIT's Drafting Program to help develp the design, when in fact they were not.
