10 Dogs [Ten Dogs]

Major collection: Holography
Named collection: Holography Collection
Object type: hologram
Maker: Boyd, Patrick
Date made: 1990
Materials: holographic stereogram; glass
Measurements: 8 in x 10 in
Nomenclature: fine art
Classification: holograms

Scene of a man holding 10 dogs on leashes in front of the steps of what appears to be a large institutional building; people appear in background on steps; as viewer moves from left to right, the dogs move and people walk up the steps, while the whole scene seems to shift, as though one were looking at the scene from a moving car; color is uniform as one moves horizontally, though if one moves one's head vertically, the color changes (from red to violet, through all of the prism colors).

Please note that due to the unique challenges of holography as a medium, high-resolution digital images are not available for most items in the holography collection. Please contact us for more information on reproducing images of holograms.
