Hologram (interferogram) set within a large piece of green-painted wood; red image shows a round white disc with interference fringe patterns on the inner portion of the disc; printed on the wood above the hologram is "Holographic interferometry is used to study vibrations in objects. Here, a glass disc was vibrated with sound waves during exposure. The black areas were moving, the white remained still. Studying vibration patterns helps determine the design of musical instruments, jet engine fans, and loud speakers. Hologram by K.A. Stetson and N.E.
